Adam's Almond Milk

Competition Entry - Smoothie Catergory

Adam's Almond Milk

  • 1 cup raw insecticide free almonds
  • 3 cup filtered water (4 if you want a thinner milk)
  • sweetener (dates, stevia etc)

  1. Soak 1 cup of almonds for at least 6 hours (no more than 12 hrs) at room temperature in filtered water.
  2. Once soaked, rinse until water becomes clear.
  3. Put your almonds into your blender and add 3 or 4 cups of filtered water.
  4. Blend for 1-2 minutes on high.
  5. While your machine is blending prepare your bowl and bag/wrap (I use a muslin cloth however a nut bag would be a more convenient but pricier investment) by placing in or over your bowl making sure a wrap hangs over the sides. It's a good idea to do this in your sink if it's large enough.
  6. When your blender has done its job open the lid and have a taste, at this point you can add your sweetener, keep it healthy and add a couple of pitted dates or Stevia and re-blend for a further minute.
  7. Next, pour your blended milk into the bag/wrap and for the fun part, SQUEEZE!
  8. Squeeze like you've never squeezed before!
  9. You will notice the sediment left behind at the bottom of the bag. You can re-run this through the blender with 1- 2 cups of water to produce more milk.
  10. Pour your milk into a large jar and feel awesome because you just made your very own, super healthy Almond Milk!

  • Almond milk is one thing that tastes better the next day.
  • Drink it up within 5 days (which won't be hard) or take a whiff and you'll know if it's still drinkable.
  • If you see any separation just give it a good stir or shake.
  • Don't discard the almond left behind in your wrap/bag it's super nutritious and can be turned into almond meal.
