Augustine's SuperFood Vegan Puppy Canine Recipe

Makes: 400g

Augustine's SuperFood Vegan Puppy Canine Recipe

  • 200g green gentils
  • 35g broccoli
  • 30g carrot
  • 10g zucchini
  • 15g beetroot
  • 30g sweet potato
  • 25g extra virgin cold‐pressed coconut oil
  • 55g Augustine's Superboost Vegan

  1. Look at this: Feeding Guide and decide how much food you would like to make. We recommend making at least 7 days worth.
  2. Lentils are measured by their cooked weight not raw. Cooked lentils weigh approx. 2.5 times their raw weight. Example; if you would like 200g of cooked lentils use 80g raw. Soak the green lentils in warm water for at least 1 hour. Drain water and rinse till water runs clear. Add new water and boil till cooked. Drain water, rinse till clear and cool.
  3. Peel sweet potato and steam. If you cannot steam, boiling is the next best thing.
  4. When coconut oil is kept in cold temperatures it is no longer in liquid form, it goes hard. If this is the case, fill your sink with hot water and place the tub of coconut oil in the sink until it liquefies. This causes no harm to the coconut oil and you can do this over and over again.
  5. Bacteria affects the longevity of refrigerated foods. It lives in the dirt so it is important to cut the ends off vegetables and peel the beetroot. Weigh the vegetables. Wash them in cold water thoroughly.
  6. Blanch the vegetables. Blanching is simply the process of dipping vegetables in boiling water (30 seconds will do). This not only kills any remaining bacteria but also inactivates enzymes to help preserve nutrients during freezing. This process will give the food up to 12 months of frozen life and up to 5 weeks of refrigerated life.
  7. Blend the vegetables, lentils (after reweighing and removing excess), and sweet potato to a puree. If you cannot puree, they must be as finely blended as possible. This is done because dogs cannot digest whole vegetables.
  8. Put the mix into a large tub and allow a few minutes to cool.
  9. Mix in the liquid coconut oil thoroughly (use food handling gloves). Do this quickly as it may begin to harden.
  10. Shake Augustine’s SuperBoost - Vegan well and mix it in, blending thoroughly. Using your hands is the most effective way.
  11. Augustine’s SuperFood - Vegan Puppy has now been prepared.
  12. Package into bags according to your desired serving size (sealable plastic lunch bags are great) and put in freezer.
