Is Vitamix the Best Blender?

It’s no mystery that I love Vitamix… I have been using it every single day since I was 13 years old and since founding Raw Blend I have grown an even deeper appreciation for this amazing blender. Is Vitamix the best blender in the world? I’ve been asked this question many times and I always give the same simple answer… “YES.”  You can call me biased, you can call me unfair or opinionated but to put it quite simply, I have used and compared most high powered blenders on the market and I can’t help but be grateful that I use and represent the most trusted blender brand in the world. Oh and Vitamix of course makes the smoothest blends! I’m not writing this blog to dish the competition but simply to deliver the facts.

Why is Vitamix the best blender?

Vitamix didn’t just join the high-performance blending industry. They invented it. Vitamix is the brand that every other blender company compares to. Vitamix created the original high performance blender in 1921, that’s nearly a 100 year heritage! Vitamix actually invented the infomercial on black and white television in 1949 and this family owned and operated business has spread it’s iconic brand to more than 100 countries worldwide to become the preferred blender for cooking enthusiasts, chefs and health & nutrition experts around the globe.

All Vitamix machines are still built by hand at the world headquarters in Cleveland Ohio in the USA, which in this day and age is pretty rare! Vitamix machines come with a 7-year warranty and are built to stand up to decades of demanding use. Vitamix want you to use your machine every single day, mutiple times a day and NEVER put it in the cupboard, you leave it on the bench. Each premium component Vitamix use is selected for its superior quality, to create the world’s most reliable blender. This saves you money, it’s not like an iPhone which you have to replace every few years.

Vitamix test their machines against some of the toughest blending applications—like raw black beans—that help to define the requirements of a high-performance blender. The result is a nearly perfect science that consistently delivers the smoothest blends through years of worry-free use.

A bargain blender’s not a bargain if it doesn’t last!

I know purchasing a Vitamix blender is an investment. But the Vitamix 5200 lasts more than 3x longer than the Ninja Professional BL660 and 10x longer than the Nutribullet Pro 900 Series. While the other guys are filling up landfills, Vitamix help you buy dependable, not disposable which is better for the environment.

Vitamix Copycats

Over the past few years Vitamix copy cat blenders have been popping up all over the world and we’ve all seen the aggressive online and television marketing campaigns that these copycat companies rely on. The majority of Vitamix copycat blenders are made in Taiwan, Korea and China – some claim to have high performance specifications (power & RPM) and some even offer 10+ year warranties, but if something is too good to be true… it most likely is.

Yes, Vitamix copycat blenders will still blend a smoothie and even make almond milk, but what appears like a quality blender from the outside might not actually be so great under the hood, this is where the magic happens.

  • Power (HP/watts) doesn’t = best blending performance
  • Speed (RPM) doesn’t = best blending performance
  • The Design & Quality of the components = best blending performance

performance Vitamix new

Vitamix design, technology and quality simply can’t be replicated or produced in a Chinese factory – it’s just not possible. I recommend before considering purchasing a high performance blender to really do your homework. Research the companies history, ask where the product is manufactured, enquire about the warranty details and if the warranty period seems lengthy for a startup company then consider if the business will even be around in 10+ years time to honour your warranty.

Longer Lasting Motors

A key to long motor life is preventing it from overheating. In addition to the overload protection that’s built into every blender, Vitamix engineers have been working for decades to perfect airflow circulation around the motor, precisely channeling a controlled amount of air to the places that need it most. The result is a quieter, more reliable motor that will serve you for years to come.

Better Blades = Better Blends

Sharp blades become dull over time. So Vitamix designed a blade that’s so strong, it doesn’t even need to be sharp. They start with aircraft-grade stainless steel. Then they harden it, polish it, and carefully laser cut it along the metal’s grain. Each prong has a precise surface area with a blunt edge and a specific angle, causing a simultaneous slicing and pulverizing action in the blender.

Clearly Different Containers

Every angle of the Vitamix container is designed to create a uniquely controlled vortex, systematically folding ingredients back to the blades for smoother blends and faster processing. So instead of just spinning ingredients around, hoping they find their way to the blades, Vitamix containers give them no choice.

Letting Off Steam

Sometimes the smallest details make the biggest impact. Take Vitamix’s removable, vented lid plug, which lets you blend hot ingredients and bring soups and sauces to serving temperatures right inside the container. And when you’re ready to experiment with texture, the lid plug lets you add ingredients. Forget about trying to make a hot soup in a cheap personal blender, it’s not possible and if you do attempt this the container may explode from the pressure. Recently, a  24 year old mother in the UK suffered horrific burns when her NutriBullet Blender exploded in her face. You’ll never experience this with the new Vitamix S30 personal blender which features a full size 1.2 litre container and vented lid.

Commercial Vitamix

It’s no surprise that Vitamix is trusted by more professional chefs and major chain restaurants than any other brand. Over 100,000 commercial outlets worldwide rely on Vitamix every single day including: Starbucks Coffee, Boost Juice, Gloria Jeans, McDonalds, + many more. These businesses demand dependable, top performing blending equipment because they can’t afford to have their blenders breaking down each week and as a result lose sales.

Other blenders worth mentioning

I know there are many Thermomix customers who visit our site regularly for recipes. Thermomix is a great product engineered in Germany and made in France but it’s a little different to Vitamix. Thermomix has a heating element (it’s almost like a blender with an oven built around it) which enables you to cook recipes like risotto. Vitamix cooks using friction heat and will puree whilst heating, perfect for soups, sauces & fondues.

Vitamix is twice as powerful as Thermomix and the blades spin up to 3 times faster, so Vitamix will create a smoother blend. Thermomix comes with a 2 year warranty and Vitamix a 7 year warranty. I have many friends who own both a Vitamix and a Thermomix, they tell me they prefer to use Vitamix on a daily basis for smoothies, nut milks (everyday blending tasks) as it performs a smoother consistency blend and is more user friendly.

Blendtec is another good high performance blender made in the USA but the thing I dislike about Blendtec is that the full size container comes with no tamper tool for pushing the ingredients into the blade. This makes it almost impossible to pack the container full of fruit and vegetables and make up to 2 litres of smoothie in one blend.

Vitamix is Engineered To Change Your Life

Every choice Vitamix make is for one reason—to build a blender that will change your life. They use some of the industry’s most durable components, giving you the ability to blend more real-food ingredients into breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether you’re creating healthier family meals or more inspired dinner parties, Vitamix machines are designed for your success. And engineered to change your life.

Happy Blending!

  2. I bought a Vitamix S30 from Raw Blend 2 months ago. The service at the warehouse was excellent and the blender is beyond my expectations. I have already tried lots of different smoothies (without the fattening creams, milk, ice cream, yoghurt, etc) and they all blend well and taste good. Thank you Vitamix and thank you Raw Blend.

  3. I love my Vitamix and can’t recommend this product highly enough. My first Vitamix has lasted well over 20 years and is still going strong! In all of that time I have only had to replace one component due to wear and it was cheap and easy to replace it myself. I don’t think I could live without a Vitamix in my kitchen.

  4. Couldn’t live without this machine. The Vitamix does everything the advertising states and is reliable. Good health has always been top priority for me so it gets used every day. Thank you raw blend,I love my Total Nutrition center.

  5. I bought an OmniBlend and love it! No idea if the Vitamix is any better, probably it is. But the OmniBlend is still a great power blender, and a great and cheaper alternative!

  6. The thing I love most about my Vitamix is that is has NO attachments. Nothing cluttering up my cupboards. No searching for the specific part needed for a certain recipe. And super easy clean up!

  7. I first saw a demostration of VITAMIX at a Soul, Mind and Body show in Brisbane about 10 years ago. I stayed and watched that demo 4 times contemplating if I could afford to buy it as I loved what it did. I didn’t and bought a Kitchen Aid blender instead. I kept that brochure. Two years ago about or so I went with my daughter to Raw Blend and bought one for me and one for my daughter, the Professional series 750. I use it everyday to make healthy smoothies, nut milks and so on. My daughter with her three young children the vitamix is a blessing. The Kitchen Aid blender now sits in my cupboard where my Vitamix stands tall on my kitchen bench. Before Vitamix I also had a NutriBullet, it stopped working and is now binned. My only regret is that I didn’t buy the Vitamix 10 years ago. I love it so much and am very proud to own one. Thank you Vitamix and Raw Blend
