Juicer Review Comparison: Best Cold Press Juicers vs. Best Slow Juicers vs. Best Masticating Juicers

There are many different juicer types on the market and many confusing juicing terms thrown around like cold press, masticating, centrifugal, slow juicers +more and it can be difficult knowing which juicer to buy. Here at Raw Blend we are the juicing experts and have composed a Juicer Review Comparison: Best Cold Press Juicers vs. Best Slow Juicers vs. Best Masticating Juicers to help you decide which juicer is right for your kitchen and family.

Cold Press Juicers / Slow Juicers / Masticating Juicers

Cold press juicers, masticating juicers, and slow juicers all basically all the same type of juicer, just with a different way of saying it. These juice extractors are the newest and best type of juicer on the market as you will get the most nutrition from your juice and the highest yield from your produce. With this type of juicer there is less waste, you throw away less pulp and the pulp is much drier which means more juice and increased vitamins.

Cold Press Juicers is a term which refers to pressing the fruit and vegetables at low temperature with a single auger, twin gears or a press as opposed to cutting the fruit and vegetables with sharp blades at high temperatures. Slow Juicers are the same as Cold Press Juicers but refers to juicing at low RPM which retains nutrients (as opposed to juicing at high RPM which creates heat and destroys nutrients).

Centrifugal juicers (which are your more typical older style juicers) have fast rotating blades that create friction and can damage the enzymes and nutritional content of your fruit and vegetables.  As a general rule, the lower the RPM the lower the heat thus higher the nutritional content of your juice.

Complete Masticating Juicer

Only some twin gear juicers can offer complete mastication which resembles the chewing movement of the human teeth. The normal masticating juicer only resemble the molar or crushing teeth movement and not the incisor/slicing and canine/cutting movement. The Greenstar Elite Juicer by Tribest offers all 3 stages of the human mastication process including the molar, incisor and canine teeth which is represented by the crushing, slicing and cutting stages of the Greenstar Elite Juicers twin gears.

Complete Masticating Juicer

Twin Gear vs. Single Auger Juicing

Twin Gear Juicing refers to juice extractors that have two gears (which can be made from plastic, stainless steel or a combination of both) which crush or press the fruit and vegetables into a fresh and nutritious juice.

Single Auger Juicing refers to juicers that have a single auger (like the Kuvings or Hurom Juicers) which is basically a large plastic screw which chews up the fruit and vegetables and turns it into a nutritious juice.

From our experience, twin gear juicers are best at juicing leafy greens and hard vegetables whilst single auger juicers are more effective for juicing soft fruits. Also, fresh juice made in a Twin Gear juicer like the Greenstar Elite Juicer or the Angel Juicer will result in an increased yield compared to a single Auger juicer. The higher the yield means more nutrient dense juice for you and your family.

Our 2018 Juicer Recommendations

So when deciding which juicer to purchase in 2018 we recommend only considering a high quality masticating juicer. From our experience, the best quality masticating juicers are manufactured in Korea and the United States (and not in China). So be sure to enquire where a juicer is manufactured before making purchase.

Our favourite 2018 juicer is hands down the award winning Greenstar Elite Juicer by Tribest. This award winning juicer handles leafy greens and hard vegetables more effectively than other juicers and results in the highest yield and most optimal nutritional content. Greenstar offers bioceramic and magnetic technology which helps preserve the shelf life of your juice and to our knowledge, is the only complete masticating twin gear juicer on the market  which most closely mimics the chewing movement of the human teeth.

Happy Juicing!

  1. I like your selection and discussion on Greenstar being on of the highly rated juicers on the market. I think the decision to incorporate dual-stage juicing is important in enhancing the extraction capabilities of the juicer. The slow juicing action also helps in ensuring that the juice does not gets warm and the nutrients remain intact unlike the case of centrifugal juicing.
