BenchFoods biltong makers pair a stainless steel food dehydrator with biltong racks and butcher hooks, so you can dry biltong at home or in a commercial kitchen. The bundles run from the 15 Hook / 10 Tray Biltong Maker, also made in black stainless steel, through the 60 Hook / 16 Tray, 120 Hook / 28 Tray and 90 Hook / 30 Tray bundles, to the 120 Hook / 32 Tray Side by Side, the 120 Hook / 32 Tray Vertical and the 180 Hook / 60 Tray bundle.

It all started in 1995, when our founder Tom Nicholas spotted a Vitamix at a home trade fair in Houston, Texas, and raced one home to his wife Leah and son Tommy. Over 30 years later we're still a family business, and still the Original Vitamix Dealers in Australia.

  • How many trays do I need?

    It depends how much you like to dry at once. The Sedona Classic and Combo come with 9 trays and the Sedona Express with 11, a good size for family batches of fruit, kale chips and crackers. Drying for a café, market stall or business? Our BenchFoods commercial dehydrators come with 16 to 60 trays.

  • Will dehydrating damage the enzymes in my food?

    Your dehydrator's thermostat sets the air temperature, not the food's. While food is still moist it stays around 20 degrees cooler than the air, because the evaporating water cools it. It's recommended to start at a higher air temperature to reduce the risk of bacteria, then turn it down.

  • Which trays come with a Sedona?

    A Sedona with BPA-free trays comes with 9 BPA-free plastic trays, 9 BPA-free mesh screens and a divider tray, handy in the middle when you only run one fan. Stainless steel trays, sheets and spare parts are in our Sedona trays and parts.
