Why glass straws

A family of four having a smoothie a day gets through about 1,460 plastic straws a year. Swap to glass and that becomes four straws, rinsed under hot water after each drink and given the occasional run through with a natural soap or the brush that comes with them.

These are not ordinary glass. They are hand made in Colorado from borosilicate glass, the same glass used for laboratory ware and oven dishes, so they are far tougher than they look, dishwasher safe, and they never hold a flavour the way plastic does. They come in different lengths and widths (the wide ones are made for thick smoothies and bubble tea), in clear and in colours, and they make an easy, useful gift.

It all started in 1995, when our founder Tom Nicholas spotted a Vitamix at a home trade fair in Houston, Texas, and raced one home to his wife Leah and son Tommy. Over 30 years later we're still a family business, and still the Original Vitamix Dealers in Australia.

Everything we sell is something we use in our own kitchen, and our team is always happy to help you choose.
