Is Vitamix the Best Blender?

It’s no mystery that I love Vitamix… I have been using it every single day since I was 13 years old and since founding Raw Blend I have grown an even deeper appreciation for this amazing blender. Is Vitamix the best blender in the world? I’ve been asked this question many times and I always give the same simple answer… “YES.”  You can call me biased, you can call me unfair or opinionated but to put it quite simply, I have used and compared most high powered blenders on the market and I can’t help but be grateful that I use and represent the most trusted blender brand in the world. Oh and Vitamix of course makes the smoothest blends! I’m not writing this blog to dish the competition but simply to deliver the facts.

Why is Vitamix the best blender?

Vitamix didn’t just join the high-performance blending industry. They invented it. Vitamix is the brand that every other blender company compares to. Vitamix created the original high performance blender in 1921, that’s nearly a 100 year heritage! Vitamix actually invented the infomercial on black and white television in 1949 and this family owned and operated business has spread it’s iconic brand to more than 100 countries worldwide to become the preferred blender for cooking enthusiasts, chefs and health & nutrition experts around the globe.

All Vitamix machines are still built by hand at the world headquarters in Cleveland Ohio in the USA, which in this day and age is pretty rare! Vitamix machines come with a 7-year warranty and are built to stand up to decades of demanding use. Vitamix want you to use your machine every single day, mutiple times a day and NEVER put it in the cupboard, you leave it on the bench. Each premium component Vitamix use is selected for its superior quality, to create the world’s most reliable blender. This saves you money, it’s not like an iPhone which you have to replace every few years.

Vitamix test their machines against some of the toughest blending applications—like raw black beans—that help to define the requirements of a high-performance blender. The result is a nearly perfect science that consistently delivers the smoothest blends through years of worry-free use.

Vitamix Copycats

Over the past few years Vitamix copy cat blenders have been popping up all over the world and we’ve all seen the aggressive online and television marketing campaigns that these copycat companies rely on. The majority of Vitamix copycat blenders are made in Taiwan, Korea and China – some claim to have high performance specifications (power & RPM) and some even offer 10+ year warranties, but if something is too good to be true… it most likely is.

Yes, Vitamix copycat blenders will still blend a smoothie and even make almond milk, but what appears like a quality blender from the outside might not actually be so great under the hood, this is where the magic happens.

Vitamix design, technology and quality simply can’t be replicated or produced in a Chinese factory – it’s just not possible. I recommend before considering purchasing a high performance blender to really do your homework. Research the companies history, ask where the product is manufactured, enquire about the warranty details and if the warranty period seems lengthy for a startup company then consider if the business will even be around in 10+ years time to honour your warranty.

Longer Lasting Motors

Other blenders worth mentioning

I know there are many Thermomix customers who visit our site regularly for recipes. Thermomix is a great product engineered in Germany and made in France but it’s a little different to Vitamix. Thermomix has a heating element (it’s almost like a blender with an oven built around it) which enables you to cook recipes like risotto. Vitamix cooks using friction heat and will puree whilst heating, perfect for soups, sauces & fondues.

Vitamix is twice as powerful as Thermomix and the blades spin up to 3 times faster, so Vitamix will create a smoother blend. Thermomix comes with a 2 year warranty and Vitamix a 7 year warranty. I have many friends who own both a Vitamix and a Thermomix, they tell me they prefer to use Vitamix on a daily basis for smoothies, nut milks (everyday blending tasks) as it performs a smoother consistency blend and is more user friendly.

Blendtec is another good high performance blender made in the USA but the thing I dislike about Blendtec is that the full size container comes with no tamper tool for pushing the ingredients into the blade. This makes it almost impossible to pack the container full of fruit and vegetables and make up to 2 litres of smoothie in one blend.
