Pre-Workout Smoothie

The perfect Pre-Workout Smoothie. The perfect way to kick start your morning so don’t bother hitting the snooze button! There is nothing better than starting your day after a good night’s sleep with a powerful workout! Although, it doesn’t have to be a hardcore workout every morning. Listen to your body.

You could go for a walk around the neighbourhood. Do a yoga class or Pilates reformer class (my favourite) or do your favourite HIIT program. Now that it’s getting warmer too you can hit the pools! Lap it up people! We’ve come up with a super simple and nutritious smoothie to fuel whatever workout you choose.

Serves – 1
Makes – 750mls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 cup spinach (or greens of choice)
  • 1 banana (peeled)
  • 1 tbsp maca powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 punnet of fresh blueberries
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • Optional – 1 tbsp plant based protein powder of choice
  • Optional – Ice

Method 

  1. Put all the ingredients into the Vitamix 2L container in the order listed and secure the lid.
  2. Select Variable 1. Turn the machine on and quickly increase the speed to 10, then override to High.
  3. Use the tamper to effectively press the ingredients into the blades whilst processing.
  4. Blend for 30 seconds or until desired consistency is reached.
  5. Stop the machine and serve.
