DIY Beauty Queen

We should always be mindful of what we are putting INTO our bodies, Just as we too should be mindful about we are putting ONTO our bodies. Cut out the chemicals and make a switch with some of these easy DIY beauty treatments to try at home. Natural, inexpensive and some even delicious!

If you have ever turned over your beauty products at home to take a look at the ingredients that keep your face fresh, youthful and glowing, you would have probably noticed that there is a rather interesting list going on there of some “scientific” names that are hard to read and harder to pronounce.

Many of the “ingredients” to fill out these products are preservatives, fragrance, sulphates, parabens and the list goes on and on. The scary part is that the law doesn’t require to list EVERYTHING that goes into that pretty packaged bottle. So who knows what else we are putting onto our skin! Ewwww…

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and it absorbs chemicals TEN TIMES FASTER than if we were ingesting them. This is because our skin doesn’t have digestive enzymes that can break chemicals down and filter them out before they enter our bloodstream and our organs. It’s pretty scary.

Not only are these nasties being absorbed by our bodies we are also flushing them down the drain and into our waterways.

Let’s keep our skin, our insides and our environment clean and clear!

Rub-a-dub-scrubs!

These DIY face & body scrubs smell delicious and leave your skin glowing, fresh, hydrated & silky smooth. I keep my scrubs in a mason jar in the shower and use them a few times a week to give my body a good exfoliation.

  • Make-up removers have all kinds of nasties hidden inside. For a natural alternative try coconut oil.
  • Rather than purchasing your favourite fragrance, try using essential oils instead. The best bit is you can combine your different oils to create your own personal scent.
  • Makeup – ladies if you are a dedicated makeup user and the thought of stepping outside without your face on sends you into a sheer panic, then i suggest you try using a mineral makeup instead. Mineral makeup is gentler on the skin containing less binders, parabens and other harmful ingredients. They also contain minerals that are beneficial to the skin, allowing it to breathe naturally without clogging pores. Make sure that the mineral bases you are choosing are fragrance and preservative free.
