Video Blog: Rainbow Smoothie

Hi Guys, Tommy here again from Raw Blend and today we are going to have a little FUN in the kitchen! I am going to share with you how to make a Rainbow Smoothie. It’s something we have all wanted to try in the Raw Blend kitchen for some time now and it’s a little tricky but we know now you guys are blending experts and you’ve got this! So, let’s get started …

Equipment

Ingredients

Purple Layer

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tsp Macqui powder
  • 1/2 the flesh of a coconut
  • 1 Tbsp natural yoghurt
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Blue Layer

  • 2 bananas
  • 5 drops of natural blue food dye
  • 3 Tbsp natural yoghurt
  • 5 chunks frozen mango
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Green Layer

  • 1 Banana
  • 1/2 green apple
  • 5 chunks frozen mango
  • 2 handfuls spinach leaves
  • 1 handful parsley
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Yellow Layer

  • 1 banana
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 5 chunks frozen mango
  • 1 slice pineapple
  • 2 Tbsp natural yogurt
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Orange Layer

  • 1 carrot
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 orange
  • 5 chunks frozen mango
  • 1 Tbsp natural yogurt
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Red Layer

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup unfrozen strawberries
  • 1 small slice beetroot
  • 3 chunks frozen mango
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Pink Layer

  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup unfrozen strawberries
  • 1 beetroot (peeled)
  • 1 banana
  • 3 Tbsp natural yogurt
  • 1 cup ice
  • water (if required)

Method

  1. Blend all smoothie layers for 20-40 seconds or until a thick icy consistency has been reached.
  2. You want to ensure the smoothies are very thick (almost bordering on a slurpy or sorbet consistency, so they don’t mix together when layering).
  3. Place each smoothie layer into a glad bag or glass and place in the freezer until all layers are complete so they don’t melt.
  4. Carefully layer each different colour smoothie into the glass with a spoon.
  5. For a tie dye effect push a straw to the bottom of the glass and scrape upwards towards the top layer.

This recipe is guaranteed to impress all of your friends and family so share, sip and enjoy with pride.

Happy Blending!
