Fall Season is in full swing over here in the good old US of A … and fall festivities are catching fever. One of my favourite parts about being over here for the fall is that the smell of apple cider fills the air everywhere you go. There’s nothing quite like a warm brew of spicy apple goodness!
Which got me thinking, and then craving … how amazing would a Apple Spice Smoothie be!? But don’t worry, this smoothie recipe is not just for my fall friends, it will keep you refreshed all year around.
By the way, apples are not only delicious, they are super good for you, and if you don’t know all the benefits that a delicious apple can offer you then you better check out my blog An Apple a Day. It will help keep the doctor away …

Equipment:
Vitamix
Ingredients:
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 3 apples
- 1 cup spinach
- 2 medjool dates, (pitted)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp all spice
- 1 cup ice
Method:
- Put all the smoothie ingredients into the Vitamix 2L container in the order listed and secure the lid.
- Select Variable 1. Turn the machine on and quickly increase the speed to 10, then override to High.
- Use tamper to effectively press the ingredients into the blades if required whilst processing.
- Blend for 60 seconds or until desired consistency is reached. If you would like you smoothie mix thicker you can add in your macadamias now and blend until smooth.
- Stop the machine, poor into your glass and sprinkle a little cinnamon, nutmeg & all spice on top.
- Enjoy!
Make sure you use a good quality high powered blender to ensure a smooth and creamy blend every time! We can’t go past the Vitamix.
I would like to make warm apple spice smoothey in winter . Can i make it warm ?
Hi Sakurako,
That’s up to you! I prefer the taste of my smoothies cold but you could certainly omit the ice in this recipe to make it warmer. If you are using a Vitamix remember that the longer you run your vitamix, the warmer your contents becomes due to the friction heat. You could extend your blending time for this recipe to increase the temperature. I can’t guarantee the taste though – I haven’t tried it warm but if you do let me know:) Good luck and Happy Blending!
I’ve never used Coconut in a green smoothy before. This taste great and the kids loved it too. I didn’t have dates so I used sultanas which I presume would give a similar flavour.
Thank you
Hi Shane,
I’m so glad you and the kids enjoyed the Apple Spice Smoothie! The beautiful thing about smoothies is you can really add the flavour that you enjoy, there is no wrong or right:) Medjool dates are really sweet so I like to use a couple to help balance out the spice in this recipe but I’m sure the sultanas would have tasted great too! It makes me so happy to hear that you are enjoying my recipes. Happy blending!
I’m severely allergic to fresh apples (cross-reactivity with certain pollens that are unrelated), so would making this with apple sauce have a similar effect/taste?
Hi Dinnae, I don’t see why it wouldn’t! It’s worth a shot! Let us know how you go. Thanks for reading and happy blending!
