Dairy – Free Food Swaps

There are many reasons why you should go DAIRY FREE whether it be from severe allergies or you’re getting caught up with all the hipster alternatives, going Dairy Free does have its benefits from a health point of view and it’s easily done without feeling like you’re missing out. It’s not a dying trend. It certainly can be overwhelming when deciding to cut out Dairy and trendy words and phrases are always thrown around to make certain foods and equipment sound better and more appealing.

Don’t get caught up with all the hype. Keep things simple.

Why should  I go Dairy Free?

Don’t get me wrong. If you don’t need to cut out Dairy then by all means keep eating it however, you would certainly be doing yourself and the animals a favour by cutting down or cutting out completely.

Hint: Just cut it out completely…

I have quite a few friends who have an intolerance to dairy. Their symptoms do vary but a few common ones are skin rashes/hives, intense headaches, feeling hungover first thing in the morning and terrible IBS symptoms. This is certainly a big enough reason for someone to cut out Dairy completely. Once they have cut out Dairy completely they notice a huge difference in how they are feeling physically and mentally.

But what about  my source of Calcium?

There are heaps of other foods that you can eat to get your daily serve of calcium. What are they you say?

  • Collard greens
  • broccoli
  • kale
  • peas
  • tahini
  • almonds
  • figs
  • oranges
  • white beans
  • tofu
  • okra

So there is no excuse really. Alternatively, you can always find a supplement. It’s always a good idea to speak to a Naturopath/Medical Professional if you feel you are deficient in a certain mineral or vitamin. It’s super important to keep in tune with YOUR body and not worry about the struggles that some others face. We’re all different.
